Act I, Scene 3

Sadama Bin Laden, dressed in a galabia, is seated at a desk in his palace, plotting Columbia's destruction. A candle burns. Sadama Bin Laden nods off, then wakes with a start.

SADAMA: How ill this taper burns!

Enter Rumour.

SADAMA: Ha, who comes here?

SBL picks up a gun from his desk and fires at Rumour.

SADAMA: I think it the weakness of mine eyes
That shapes this monstrous apparition.
Art thou anything? Art thou some djinn,
Some angel or some devil,
That mak'st my blood cold and my hair to stare?
Speak to me what thou art.

RUMOUR: I am a Palestinian spirit,
Despised, distressed, hated, martyr'd, kill'd!
Each new morn, new widows howl,
New sorrows strike heaven on the face.
I am Revenge; sent from th'infernal kingdom,
To ease the gnawing vulture of thy mind,
By working wreakful vengeance on thy foes.
Come and welcome me,
Confer with me of murder and of death.

SADAMA: Speak your griefs softly, I do know them well.
Tomorrow the world shall digest the venom of
Your spleen, though it do split them.

Rumour vanishes.

SADAMA: O, world,
Wonder to wait on treason and on murder!
And say, whatsoever cunning fiend it was,
That wrought upon thee so preposterously
Hath got the voice in hell for excellence.
