Macbush

Act IV, Scene 2

An army base. Macbush is speaking to soldiers headed to Iraq.

MACBUSH: Remember this:
God and our good cause fight on our side.
Those whom we fight against had rather
Have us win than him they follow.
For what is he they follow?
A bloody tyrant and a homicide,
Raised in blood and by blood established,
One that hath ever been God's enemy.
Then, if you fight against God's enemy,
God will ward you as his soldiers.
Either thou wilt die by God's just ordinance
Or from this war return a conqueror.

Soldiers leave.

MACBUSH: To my shame I see
The imminent death of twenty thousand men
Who for a fantasy and a trick of fame,
Go to their graves like beds.
